Ben Kraft made a season-high 51 saves for his fourth straight win and veteran defenceman Jace McGrail had a junior hockey career-high goal and five assists to lead the Petrolia Flyers to a 9-1 win over the Spitfires in PJHL action at Aylmer Saturday. 

McGrail is now on a seven-game point streak with 15 points over that span.

Dylan Campbell scored twice for the winners while Cameron Davidson and Andrew Jaques each had a goal and an assist. 

Parker Davidson, Joey Shaw, Lucas Rogers and Rhett Joy also scored for the Flyers.

Ryan Nichols had three assists while Isaac Truman and Joey Hayter each contributed a pair of helpers.

Ex-Lambton Jr. Sting Callum Besley took the goaltending loss for the Spits.

Petrolia led 1-0 after a period and scored three goals in a little over two minutes late in the second period to break a 1-1 tie and go to the second intermission with a 4-1 advantage. The Flyers scored five unanswered tallies in the final frame.

Jan. 8, five different players scored for Petrolia in a 5-3 win over Mt. Brydges.  Theron Morningstar stopped 38 shots in the winning crease.

The Flyers are now unbeaten in its seven games, having allowed three or fewer goals in all but one of those contests.

It’s a busy week ahead for Petrolia. 

They host North Middlesex on Thursday before traveling to Thamesford and Mt. Brydges for road games on Friday and Sunday.

The Flyers lead the Yeck Division standings with a record of 20-7-2.
