Somerville leads Lancers at Sarnia Invitation Wrestling tourney

LCCVI was third in the open girls division and ninth overall of 39 teams at the Sarnia Invitational Wrestling event at St. Patrick’s in Sarnia.

Kylee Somerville won her category for the Lancers and Madalyn Martin was second in hers. Kalyn Kwarciak-Bishop, Jessa Somerville, Isaac Jahnke, Chloe King, Abbi White and Breanna Dew registered third-place finishes and Demarius Kember was fourth for LCCVI.

Meantime, North Lambton won the open boys title and placed fourth overall. Bailey Dortmans, Brody Bruce, Bryson Rose-Cole and Rhys Lewis won division titles while Jocelyn Carr, Jordan Anderson, Kayla Campbell and Noah Needham placed second.  Sophia Smith-Hunter was fourth.

The host Irish team, with Wyoming’s Abby Phelan winning second place in her weight class, beat out Hamilton’s Bishop Ryan for the overall championship.  Great Lakes finished third.
