To absolutely no one’s surprise, Tyler McGregor has been chosen as one of 17 players to wear the maple leaf in Para hockey at the Paralympics in Italy in March.

The Forest product will play in his fourth games dating back to 2014.  He and Team Canada has won two silver medals and a bronze over that time span.

“Being named to the Paralympic roster is an incredible honour and means everything to me,” said McGregor, also one of five co-captains of the Milano Cortina 2026 Canadian Paralympic Team.

“Every athlete on this team has put in the work and made sacrifices to get to this moment. We believe in each other, we believe in our preparation, and we’re motivated by the opportunity to compete for Canada on the world’s biggest stage. Our focus is on coming together as a team, playing our game and doing everything we can to bring home a gold medal.”

Canada’s last Para hockey gold was in Turin in 2006.  Team USA is the four-time defending champion.

McGregor and his crew open the eight-team tournament against Slovakia on March 7.  Japan and Czechia are also in the same pool as Canada.

The medal games are on March 15.
