For the first time this Provincial Hockey League season, the Petrolia Flyers have gone three games without a victory.
The Flyers winless streak reached three games with a 4-3 loss at Mt. Brydges Sunday.
Sarnia’s JJ Fogarty had what proved to be the game-winning goal, shorthanded, late in the second period. It was his second goal of the contest giving him 25 on the season.
Tobias Iantorno scored twice for Petrolia. Jace McGrail had the other extending his point streak to ten games.
Captain Andrew Jaques had two assists.
Ben Kraft took the loss in the Flyers crease despite stopping a season-high 55 shots.
With the win, Mt. Brydges has taken over the Yeck Division lead one point better than Petrolia and North Middlesex who are tied for second.
But the Flyers have four games in hand on the Bulldogs and two games on North Middlesex.
Petrolia lost 3-2 in overtime in Thamesford last Friday and Watford’s Sean Shanahan had 45 saves to backstop North Middlesex to a 4-2 win over the Flyers at Greenwood last Thursday.
It’s another busy week for Petrolia. They host Port Stanley at Greenwood Thursday at 7:30 before road games in Exeter and Mt. Brydges on Friday and Saturday.
