Amherstburg lead Flags 2-1 in first round of PJHL playoffs

The Mooretown Flags are down two games to one in the first round of the playoffs.

The Flags clawed back into the series with a 4-1 win on home ice Wednesday night.

Lucas Ross and Jace Dupuis each had a goal and an assist for Mooretown.

Dylan Dupuis and Masen Flett also scored for the Flags. Ethan Glavin had two assists.

John Chartrand made 42 stops in the victory.

Mooretown had period leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before putting the game away with a pair of power play markers in the final frame.

The hometown Admirals scored at 4:39 of overtime to beat the Flags, 4-3 Sunday to give the Admirals a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Stobbs Division first round playoff series.

Caleb Rosseel had a goal and an assist for the Flags with Jace Dupuis and Ty Therrien adding the others.

Casey Schouten had two assists.

John Chartrand made 36 stops as the hometown Admirals outshot the Flags, 40-31, including 3-0 in extra time.

Saturday in Mooretown, the Admirals peppered the Flags cage with 60 shots in a 4-2 win over the Flags.

Chartrand made 56 saves.

Jace Dupuis and Geremia Nappi scored for Mooretown.

After a scoreless first period, the Admirals took a 1-0 in the opening minute of the second period and increased their lead to 3-0 scoring twice in 70 seconds late in the second frame.

Mooretown cut the gap to 3-1 with a late second period tally and scored a second goal late in the final frame before the visitors iced the contest with an empty net goal.

Game four of the series is in Amherstburg Friday night.
