It’ll be the Alvinston Killer Bees and the Strathroy Jets for the Northern Premier Hockey League’s Metropolitan Division championship.

Game one of the best-of-seven series will be Saturday, March 7 in Alvinston at 6:45.

The Bees advanced with a 7-5 win over the Bluebirds in Tilbury Saturday to take their first round series in six games. Strathroy will be well rested after disposing of Stratford in four straight games.

After Tilbury had tallied first on the weekend, Brennan Feasey scored twice in two minutes to give Alvinston a lead they would never relinquish. Feasey ended the night with two goals and three assists.

Jeff King also scored twice for the Bees and added an assist while Ethan Lamoureux had a goal and two helpers. Jacob Chandler and Alex Cunningham also scored the winners.

James MacEwan contributed a pair of assists. Joseph Raaymakers made 52 saves in the Bees crease.

Friday in Alvinston, Feasey scored back-to-back power play goals in 41 seconds midway through the final frame as the home team took advantage of a five-minute crosschecking major penalty whistled against the Bluebirds.

Feasey ended the night with a hat trick and an assist. Joshua Slegers and Chandler also scored for Alvinston.

Raaymakers made 22 saves in the Bees’ crease as Alvinston outshot the visitors, 49-25 including 23-6 in the first period.

The Bees and Jets series should be an interesting one with Raaymakers and Jets goalie Evan Debrouwer posting the most playoff wins this season and Feasey topping the goal scorers during playoffs with nine. Kole Keating – from Alvinston but playing for the Jets – and Feasey both have two game winning goals this playoff season.
