Over 500 students face immunization suspension Tuesday

Over 500 students may get a surprise when they head to school Tuesday.
Lambton Public Health officials say as of late Monday, 513 elementary and secondary school students have incomplete immunization records and will be suspended Tuesday.
Parents and guardians are required under the Immunization of School Pupils Act to report their child’s immunization or exemption status to public health. Health care providers do not automatically submit immunization records and students could face suspension even if they are fully immunized.
Officials say if a suspended student arrives at school, their parent or guardian will receive a call to arrange for the student to return home. They’re then asked to contact Lambton Public Health to review and update the student’s immunization record or discuss the available options.
You can report your child’s status online, in person or by calling public health.
If your child needs to be immunized, make the appointment and let public health know when it is.
