Alvinston Killer Bees take game three against Jets

Goals by Brandon Couto and James McEwan 28 seconds apart midway through the third period broke a 2-2 tie and led the Alvinston Killer Bees to a 5-2 home ice playoff victory Friday.

The Bees scored four unanswered goals in the final frame.

Alvinston now leads the best-of-seven Metropolitan Division final two games to one. Game four is in Strathroy next Saturday.

Last night, Couto ended the contest with two goals and an assist and MacEwan added a goal and three helpers. Ryan Gagner and Kraig Wright also scored for the Bees.

Brandon Prust had a goal and an assist for Strathroy.

Joseph Raaymakers won the crease battle with 18 saves. Evan Debrouwer made 35 stops for the Jets.

Alvinston outshot Strathroy, 40-20.

Over 1,800 traffic charges laid on long weekend in southwestern Ontario

The Independent West Region OPP officers laid 1,815 charges following 2,107 traffic stops across the region during the Civic Holiday long weekend traffic campaign. The campaign focused on speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving and impaired driving.  Police also enforced Ontario’s Move Over Law which gives emergency responders the space they need conduct other work on the roadside.
