Community refrigerator in the running for grant

April 3, 2026

The Independent

Petrolia’s Community Refrigerator program is in the running for some big money.

The 24/7 food bank is a finalist for the BASF All Growing Home contest for up to $25,000. PCR partners with farm agencies, food banks, shelters and service clubs to provide essential services. PCR also rescues thousands of pounds of food each year from local businesses that would have ended up going to landfills.

The group is vying for the cash with First Beamsville Scouting and the Norwich District Curling Club. The online voting for the Ontario winner ends April 17 at agsolutions.ca
