Highway 21 closed through Grand Bend for major fire

Lambton OPP are reporting a major fire in Grand Bend Friday afternoon.

Police say there is a structure fire between Lake Road and Greenhaven Drive which has closed Highway 21/Ontario Street. Police have also closed Main Street and Greenway Road in Grand Bend

Video on social media shows the large amounts of smoke billowing from the RONA Store and Lambton Shores firefighters work. No injuries have been reported and all the employees at the hardware store safely evacuated..

The OPP says the road closure is expected to be lengthy and say residents in the area of Lake Road and the Pines Parkway can go to the Royal Canadian Legion on Municipal Drive for shelter for the time being. Residents in homes around the building were asked to stay indoors with windows closed and heating and cooling units turned off.
