Defenceman John Montanino led the local contingent drafted at the OHL Priority Selection in Kingston.
The Brampton Steelheads selected him in the third round. The Sarnia native played with Detroit-Little Caesars this season.
Windsor chose Sarnia’s Cameron Jolicoeur, a power forward from the London Jr. Knights, in the seventh round and the Knights took Grand Bend’s Liam Klubertanz of the Lambton Jr. Sting in the 12th round.
The Sting picked players with local connections. Wyatt Finch was taken in the fifth round, Calven Walos was selected in the eighth round, Noah Crombeen in the 13th round and Tyler Miele was taken in the 14th round.
Finch is the son of Sting majority owner, Ryan Finch while Walos is the younger brother of Sting standout Easton Walos. Noah Crombeen is the grandson of former Sarnian and NHL player Mike Crombeen while Miele’s father is part of the new ownership group with the Sarnia Legionnaires.
