Petrolia Soccer Club Board Members Emily Atkinson, Angela Salaris and Stephanie Munro were trying to defend the goal against Tallulah Pettit, Sadie Atkinson, Remington and Daisy Pettit at the Tank Street Heritage Field in Petrolia Wednesday.
The town officially opened the new soccer pitches at the Petrolia Y as part of the Canada Day celebrations. “Today is much more than opening a new soccer field. It is about investing in our community, supporting our youth, promoting healthy lifestyles and creating a gathering place where memories will be made for generations to come,” said Mayor Brad Loosley at the official opening.
The fields were part of the redevelopment of the Y which received almost $700,000 in funding from the federal government to help with the project.
