Sting captain Di Iorio drafted by Columbus Blue Jackets

Sting captain Alessandro Di Iorio heard his named called in the third round Saturday by the Columbus Blue Jackets. 

He was the 94th overall selection at the draft in Buffalo.

Meantime, Simon Katolicky, who has committed to the Sting for the 2026-27 campaign, was chosen in the fifth round, 132nd overall by the Calgary Flames. 

And, former Sting Beckham Edwards was taken with the 143rd overall choice by the Detroit Red Wings, also in the fifth round. 

Edwards, who played his minor hockey in Detroit, is going to play NCAA hockey at Notre Dame this season.

Dallas chose former Sting Ryan Brown of the London Knights in the fifth round while former Sting draft choice Nicholas Bogas was selected in the fifth round by St. Louis. 

He was a 2024 draft choice of the Sting who played with the US National Development under-18 team last season.
