Marathon swimmer set to finish Lake Huron swim in Ipperwash

History is being made in Lake Huron today as a Toronto swimmer completes the final kilometres of a trek across the Great Lake.
Lev Goldberg aims to be the first trans athlete to swim across all of the Great Lakes. Last year, he made his way across Lake Ontario. Wednesday, he dove into the waters of Lake Huron off Port Sanilac, Michigan at 6:30 am and has been swimming ever since.
According to the online tracker, the Toronto Great Lakes marathon swimmer has averaged 1.87 km per hour and will walk up onto Ipperwash Beach around 2 pm Thursday.
Goldberg was the first trans athlete to make a Great Lakes crossing and plans to complete all of the lakes in the next few years.
The swimmer is raising money to support the LGBT YouthLine.
