Brooke-Alvinston officials say two major recreation projects are moving along well.

In a recent report to council, Parks and Recreation Manager, Greg Thornicroft, said the $2 million project to replace the Alvinston arena floor is on schedule.

Thornicroft says the new compressor and motor have been installed, brine has been pumped back into the lines under the floor to removed the air from the system. A dehumidifer was expected to be arriving soon and the boards and new lift gate were to be installed in the last week of August.

A cleaning crew was also coming in to clean the facility including the stands, floors, benches and hallways.

Meantime, the plan to restore the tennis courts at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre is well underway.

The municipality hired Just for Tennis, a company which has worked on similar projects in Petrolia and Corunna, to resurface the aging court.

The courts were flooded to find the low spots so they could be repaired. The Optimist Club of Alvinston, which is helping to pay for the project, will chose the colour scheme.

The tennis court is expected to be repaired for the fall fair in the last week of September.
