The Legionnaires start fresh after difficult season

September 17, 2026

The first step in erasing the dubious memory of last season’s record-setting winless season comes this week for the GOHL’s Sarnia Legionnaires.

With new ownership and a revamped coaching staff and roster, Sarnia takes on the Komoka Kings on Thursday (Sept. 17) at Pat Stapleton Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.

Sting prospect Ethan Glavin will wear the “C” this season for the Legionnaires.

The 17-year-old left-shot defenceman had two goals and 17 points in 43 games last season with the Mooretown Flags.
He also played four games with the Strathroy Rockets.

The 10th round pick by the Sting in the OHL Priority Selection in 2025 played three games as a call-up with the Legionnaires in 2024-25.

“He leads by example, is hard working, and makes people around him better both on and off the ice,” said the team in
making the announcement.

Glavin is one of three Sting prospects on Sarnia’s roster after the Legionnaires signed Evan Bannister and David Healy today.

Bannister, 16, was a second-round pick, 30th overall by the Sting in the OHL Priority Selection in June. He had 47 goals and 81 points in 39 total games with the Credit River Capitals U16 AAA club last season. He also played in five GOHL playoff contests with the St. Catharines Falcons, scoring a goal.

Healy, 17, was a sixth-round pick by the Sting in 2025. He backstopped the Toronto Titans to a GTHL under-18 AAA championship in 2025-26.

Komoka’s roster includes Wyatt Finch, the son of Sting co-owner Ryan Finch. He was a fifth-round selection by the Sting in June. He drew an assist for the Kings in a 5-2 loss to LaSalle last weekend.

And, Sarnia signed Lambton Jr. Sting grad Ashton Fraser this week. He had nine goals and 29 points in 35 games with the local U18 AAA program last season.
