Flyers prepare for home opener

The hometown Mt. Brydges Bulldogs scored with just 22 seconds left in the third period for a 4-3 win over the Petrolia Flyers in PJHL action last Saturday.
After a scoreless first period, the home team jumped out to a 3-1 after 40 minutes. Parker Davidson had the Petrolia tally.
Third period goals by Jace McGrail and Ryan Nichols tied the game before the Bulldogs won it in the waning seconds.
Oil Springs’ Will Hull had a pair of assists for Mt. Brydges.
Former Bulldogs goalie Eric McDonald made 53 stops in the Flyers crease as Petrolia outshot the Bulldogs, 58-57.
Friday in Exeter, the hometown Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period and went on to beat the Flyers, 10-6. Nichols scored twice and added an assist and Isaac Truman had a goal and three assists.
Nathan Beer, with his first career junior goal, Cam Davidson and McGrail also scored for the Flyers.
Petrolia, now 1-2 on the young season, is preparing for its home opener on Thursday night against the Exeter Hawks. Game time at the Greenwood Recreation Centre is 7:30.
