Flyers get home opener cut short because of poor ice

It’ll be take two for the Petrolia Flyers on home ice Thursday when the North Middlesex Stars visit Greenwood for a
PJHL contest beginning at 7:30 pm.

Petrolia’s home opener Sept. 24 was cancelled at the end of the second period due to what the team called unsafe ice conditions.

The Flyers were leading Exeter, 3-1 at the time.

A team official says the entire game against the Hawks will have to be replayed at a later date not yet determined.

Several local players are on the roster for the Stars who are off to a 5-1 start on the season. They include Petrolia’s
Jacob Lassaline, Watford’s Sean Shanahan, Colton Peters of Thedford and Forest’s AJ Wilson.

The Flyers, 1-2 on the season, also take on the Spitfires in Aylmer on Saturday night.
