After a strong season last year, the LCCVI Lancers baseball team is looking to build on its success and make another run at a LKSSAA championship.

The Lancers had just one loss last season, finishing 7-1 with that loss coming at an unfortunate time to Ursuline College in the LKSSAA final.

Despite falling short, the experience has given the players confidence heading into the upcoming season.

Senior Jamison Helps said he is excited about the team’s potential and hopes they can “redeem ourselves in LKSSAA.”

The team also knows what it will take to make it back to the final, he says. After last year’s loss, the players learned how
important it is to stay calm and play their game, even when the pressure is high.

“We know what it takes to win now,” Helps said. “We can’t let the pressure of the finals change how we play.”

The Lancers currently sit at a 2-1 record with wins over St. Pat’s and Great Lakes and just recently an 11-10 shootout loss against Northern.

With last year’s experience behind them, LCCVI will look to carry that confidence into this new season and compete for another LKSSAA title, says Helps.

The Lancers take on the Lambton-Kent Cardinals Thursday in Dresden. Game time is 3 pm.
