Sports Briefs: Lancers baseball team hands Eagles first loss

LCCVI outscored North Lambton, 8-6 in high school baseball at Morrison Field on Monday. It was the Eagles first loss of the season after four straight victories.
The Lancers continued to score on Tuesday, getting a 19-3 win over Wallaceburg to improve their record to 4-1.
Elsewhere last week, LCCVI blanked Great Lakes, 35-0 in high school football with Isaiah Ardell scoring all five touchdowns for the Lancers and LCCVI took both ends of a girls’ basketball doubleheader with North Lambton in Forest.
The Lancers prevailed 50-41 in the senior contest
and 26-20 in the junior game.

The Mooretown Flags ran the table in winning the under-18 B championship banner at the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame tournament in Parry Sound on the weekend.
After going 4-0 in the preliminary round, the Flags beat Lindsay, 5-1 in the semifinal and blanked the host Parry Sound squad, 4-0 in the final.
Mooretown outscored its opposition, 32-2.

Lambton Shores won the finalist banner at the South Simcoe Storm Classic last weekend.
The Predators went 4-0 in round-robin play in the under-11 division before bowing to Mississauga in the final.
Sarnia won the under-15 trophy beating Oshawa, 4-0 in its final.

The Alvinston Killer Bees open the 2026-27 Northern Premier League senior hockey season with a contest against the newest team in the
league, the Brant County Riverhawks this Saturday.
Puck drop at the community centre in Burford, just
west of Brantford, is 7:30.

LCCVI grad Caelin Podolinsky and North Lambton grad Emma Munroe were part of the Lambton College cross-country team that won the women’s team title at the Fanshawe invitational event last weekend in London.
The OCAA provincials are at the Fanshawe Conservation Area in London on Oct. 31.

Newly named alternate captain John McLaughlin scored his first goal of the season on three shots on goal and added an assist in Windsor’s 4-1 win
at Owen Sound on the weekend.
The Mooretown minor hockey product had a plus two while winning 10 of 19 draws.
The sophomore centre from Corunna has a goal and four assists in seven games this season.
The Spits host Oshawa this Saturday and entertain the Saginaw Spirit on Thanksgiving Monday.
