Water rates going up in Enniskillen Township

Enniskillen Township residents will see an increase in its water and sewer rates in 2027.
Council approved the rate increases at Monday’s meeting that were proposed by Administrator-Clerk Christine Poland.
“I’m recommending we increase again by the 45 cents over the Petrolia rate,” said Poland. This will result in a four cent increase beginning in January with rates rising from $2.15 to $2.19 a cubic metre.
Historically, the township added 40 cents a cubic metre to the amount it was charged by the Town of Petrolia for the water. This allowed for 20 cents to accommodate water loss and 20 cents to be put towards any future capital expenditure. The amount added was increased to 45 cents a cubic metre in
2025. This rate increase also applies to the sale of water to the Village of Oil Springs and the Township of Dawn-Euphemia.
Council also approved the increase to the administration fee from $56 to $57 every billing period.
And, Oil City’s sewer rates will also increase, this time to $46 a month, from $43.
That generates another $3,744 in revenue to maintain the system. Poland is expecting the cost of the sewer system to increase as the township moves to two lagoon discharges a year.
