You might have noticed a new flashing stop sign at the corner of Bentpath Line and Highway 40.
Lambton County officials wrote to the Ministry of Transportation over the summer voicing concern about safety at busy corner.
In the past year, there have been at least three major accidents with 10 people injured.
The MTO’s West Regional Director Geoffrey Gladdy said the traffic at the corner doesn’t meet MTO war- rants but he recognized local safety concerns.
“The ministry recognizes the long-term value of this improvement to both the local and provincial road network,” he said in a letter to Lambton County officials.
The flashing lights above the stop signs were installed by MTO crews Sept. 25 according to Jason Cole, general manager of infrastructure and development in Lambton.
