The race for mayor in Brooke-Alvinston is down to three candidates.
Tom Scott, a former councillor in Brooke Township, who was making his second attempt at returning to council, withdrew from the race Oct. 7 during the lone All-Candidates meeting for the community
Scott told the crowd he had recently “got some bad news” about his health and he didn’t think “it wouldn’t be fair if I run.”
He also thanked those who had offered support as he campaigned.
The other mayoral candidates wished him well. “Our thoughts are with you,” said Marcus Deloughery. “Thank you for all that you’ve done in this campaign.”
Jamie Armstrong wished Scott well as did Don McCabe as they began their opening remarks at the event.
While Scott has indicated he won’t be campaigning for the job and withdrawn from the race, his name will still appear on the ballot due to the timing of his withdrawal.
