There will be music in the air in Oil Springs Friday night.

The Village of Oil Springs along with the Oil Springs Optimist is hosting a Jingle Bell Walk.

Village Clerk Jennifer Turks says this is the second year for the event geared to children and their families.

The night begins at the Youth Centre on Victoria Street at 6pm where people will be caroling to the town Christmas tree next to the Oil Springs Fire Hall where the tree will be lit. Then Turks says everyone is welcome to return to the youth center for treats, a visit with Santa and youth bingo.

Turks says they also hope to spread a little Christmas cheer to people in need with the event.

People are asked to bring a canned good which will be donated to the Oil Springs Food Bank

“There will always be people in need and we feel it is nice to give back to the community,” says Turks. “I understand the need has risen again this year, more families are using the local food bank…If we can help out with that, we most certainly want to.”
