Silver stick volunteers honoured

Lambton County Warden Todd Case is recognizing the thousands of volunteers who have made Silver Stick a winter tradition
The warden was at the opening ceremonies of the International Silver Stick tournament in Forest to present the Citizen of the Month Award for January.
“Silver Stick weekends are woven into the social fabric of our communities, many have been in existence for decades,” says Case in a news release. “These tournaments provide a huge economic boost to our communities and could not get off the ground without the hard work of dedicated staff and volunteers.”
Over 340 teams participated or will participate in more than 650 Silver Stick games in Lambton County this season. Hundreds of staff and volunteers were involved in tournaments at Alvinston, Petrolia, Watford, Mooretown, Forest, and Sarnia.
Ira Downer, International Silver Stick Commissioner, accepted the award saying “”We thank Warden Case for the acknowledgment and would like to recognize the staff, volunteers, service clubs, legion branches, and local businesses who invest in these tournaments and their communities.”
The plaque will be housed at the Sarnia-Lambton Sports Hall of Fame at Clearwater Arena in Sarnia.
