Fire destroys barn near Inwood
February 12, 2014
On one of the coldest nights of the winter, Central Lambton fire fighters are battling a blaze near Inwood.
Fire fighters, lead by the Inwood Department, were called to Darren Munro’s farm at the corner of Inwood Road and Oil Springs Line Tuesday night as temperatures dipped to -21 C.
Munro’s father told The Independent the family was in the house less than 100 feet away from the barns when the fire broke out around 10 pm but didn’t notice the fire. The fire was spotted by Munro’s sister-in-law across the road who called to tell them the building was on fire.
The shop contained equipment and tools for the farm including tractors. Munro’s father said his son had been working there today.
Hydro One crews were on the scene less than an hour after the fire started and its believed electrical problems are being investigated as a cause of the blaze.
