You can learn about the remarkable people who have shaped Petrolia.

The Petrolia Heritage Committee is once again holding Walk Into the Past at Hillsdale Cemetery Sat. Sept. 13.

It’s the second time the group has hosted the event which includes a walking tour of some of the historic gravestones and members of Petrolia Community Theatre telling historically accurate stories about the people of the community.

“From veterans and milliners to businessmen, visitors will learn about all of the remarkable people that helped to create and shape our community,” says Petrolia Heritage committee member Liz Welsh. “More than just a pleasant walk, the visitor is invited to spend the afternoon delving into the history of beautiful, historical Hillsdale Cemetery.”

Welsh says if you are interested you should buy your tickets early since last year’s inaugural event sold out.

Tickets ($12 per adult or $30 for a family of four) are available by calling 519-882-1221.

Proceeds from the event will go to help restore some of the historic stones at Hillsdale and Petrolia Community Theatre.
