The Alvinston Indians returned home on Thursday night for game 2 in the finals of the St. Thomas & District Major Fastball League.  Kyle Crawford was the pitcher for Alvinston, while St. Thomas countered with Ryan Cummings.

The game was scoreless through the first two innings with both teams leaving two men on base.  In the top of the third, Tex Lessard singled for St. Thomas to lead off the inning, but was stranded when Crawford retired the next three batters.  In the bottom fo the third, Tyler Huff led off with a walk for Alvinston, but the next two batters were retired.  Craig Lyons was the next batter up for Alvinston, and with a 0-2 count, he smashed the next pitch over the centre field fence, giving Alvinston a 2-0 lead.

Crawford would allow two more hits and a walk the rest of the way, as him and the Alvinston defence were flawless en route to a 2-0 game 2 victory, and 2-0 series lead for Alvinston.

Tex Lessard was 2/4 for St. Thomas, while Mark Coleman was 2/3.  Aaron Gould reached base twice for St. Thomas via walks.  Craig Lyons was 2/3 for Alvinston, while Stocking was 1/2 with a walk, and Andy Triest had the other Alvinston hit going 1/2.  Crawford was the winning pitcher for Alvinston, pitching seven scoreless shutout innings, with 4 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts.  Ryan Cummings was the hard luck loser for St. Thomas pitching six innings, allowing the two earned runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts.  The game lasted only 1 hour and 25 minutes, and the weather and game was a good one for the fans!

Game 3 of the best 3 out of 5 final series goes Monday in Alvinston at 7:30pm.
