Province looking for vaccine volunteers

The province is looking for volunteers to host vaccine clinics and put needles in arms.

The provincial government is looking for businesses which might host a vaccination clinic. If you’re interested you can call 1-888-777-0554. It’s also suggesting community groups or churches could host the GOVAXX bus for a clinic. For more information contact [email protected].

To staff all these clinics, the province is looking for volunteers. People without a health care background who could be support staff at a clinic can go to the Ontario COVID-19 Volunteer Portal. you have to be 16 to volunteer.

Ontario’s also changing some regulations to allow more people – including retired nurses, doctors, dentists and firefighters – eligible to administer the vaccine. You can register through the Health Workforce Matching Portal. Officials ask if you’ve already signed up that you go and renew your availability to give boosters.

Yesterday in Ontario, 230,516 vaccines were given. In all, over 25 million COVID-19 shots have been given since January.

Aamjiwnaang evacuates parts of community as INEOS decommissioning increases benzene levels

Leaders of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation are evacuating residents between Churchill Road and Tashmoo Ave after high levels of benzene have been detected in the area.
