Three more COVID-19 deaths at Bluewater Health

Three people, including a man in his 50s, have died of COVID-19 in the last day at Bluewater Health.

Today, there are 34 patients with COVID-19 in hospital and over the last day, two men, one in his 50s, the other in his 70s, and a woman in her 90s have passed away because of the virus.

In one week – eight people have passed away at the hospital.

Across Ontario, there are now 3,220 people in hospital That’s up by 753 in one day. Eighty more people were admitted to intensive care units yesterday as well. There are now 465 people in ICUs – with 67 per cent being unvaccinated.

There are now 16 outbreaks in Lambton County, the latest is at Christian Horizons in Sarnia. The outbreak at Bluewater Health’s inpatient rehabilitation unit has grown. Five staff members can now be connected to the outbreak which started with six patients.

At Trillium Villa in Sarnia 17 residents and 19 staff are ill with COVID-19 and Sumac Lodge has 12 residents and 10 staff members ill. There are six residents at Fiddicks ill and 12 staff members today.

Lambton Public Health says there are 1,315 people ill in the community who have a confirmed case of COVID-19. Since PCR testing is no longer widely available, public health officials say that number isn’t accurate and could be four to five times higher.
