Retirement, training deadlines leave Oil Springs without fire chief on July 1

Gavin Black had a goal and three assists and captain Logan Gardner added a goal and two helpers to lead the Mooretown Flags to a 6-3 win over Wallaceburg in PJHL action on Saturday at Walpole Island.
Brody Genyn, Jimmy Simpson, Ayden Letang and Caleb Laframboise also scored for the Flags.
Watford’s Malcolm Verstraten made 14 saves for Mooretown for his first career PJHL goaltending victory.
Sarnia’s Jacob Trudgeon took the loss making 37 stops as the Flags outshot the Thunderhawks, 43-17.
Mooretown is 6-4 on the season.
The Flags host Blenheim on Saturday at Walpole Island before taking on the Blades on the road Sunday.
