Petrolia wins Breakaway Challenge

The Petrolia Oilers won five straight games to capture the U9 MD division title at the Winter Breakaway Challenge in Niagara Falls on the weekend.
The Oilers beat Orillia, Vaughan and Northumberland in the preliminary round then defeated Oakridge, 3-2 in the semi-finals and Bradford, 5-1 in the final. Overall, the Oilers outscored their opposition, 32-5.
Meantime, the Oilers U9 HL team also reached the final but lost to Thorold in the championship contest. They had beaten teams from Mt. Brydges, West Niagara, Nobleking and Port Stanley to each the final.
