The dust and the mud at the Alvinston Pro Rodeo
June 16, 2026
The population of Alvinston swelled by a couple of thousand this weekend as the Alvinston Pro Rodeo set up shop at the Brooke Alvinston Inwood Community Centre for the weekend.
Cowboys and cowgirls from all over North America came to be part of the action. And there was a big local contingent including Tyler Foster and Rod Weese, World Champions who come from Brooke-Alvinston and Watford.

Emilee Langford of Petrolia, right, came in fourth in the poles over the weekend.

Even the littlest cowgirls got into the action as Weese helped his daughter, Kennedy, around the Junior Barrel Racing course Friday night.

And there was heart stopping action during the bull riding Friday night, bottom, as bullfighter Jamie Wilkinson keeps the bull from rider Jake Magginis.

While Friday night brought lots of sunny skies for the breakaway roping, left, Sunday brought muddy conditions after heavy rains. Emma Rose from Mitchell, above contended with the mud in breakaway roping.

Matt Dewetering from Adelaide Metcalfe Township competes in the steerwrestling.

The mud made life even more interesting for the bronc riders, some of who landed up face first in the muck.
