Eight LCCVI Lancer track and field athletes are heading to the provincial championships.

Jack Helps led the team at the West Region Championship in Windsor Friday and Saturday, winning Gold in the Men’s Senior Javelin. He beat the field with a throw of 55.94m to earn his place at the championships in London this coming week.

Hunter Campbell won Silver in the Senior Men’s Discus with a throw of 45.35, 47 cm behind the first place finisher to move on to OFSSA.

Meagan Munro was a double winner claiming silver in the 80m hurdles to advance. She also placed second in the 300m Novice Girls Hurdles with a time of 48.72.

James Grant won Silver in the Junior Men’s 1500m Friday with a time of 4:12.58s. Grant qualified for the Junior Men’s 800 meter, placing fourth with a time of 1:58.94 Saturday.

Hunter Mitchell placed fourth in the Junior Men’s 100m Hurdles Friday with a time of 14.22 s.

And the LCCVI Girls placed fourth in the 4x100m. The team of Harleigh Mitchell, Zoey Zavitz, Belle Stuart and Munro advance to OFSSA with a time of 52.88 s.

Katelyn Nicholson places eighth in Senior Women’s High Jump finishing at 1.50m Friday.
Darius Landon finishes 14th in Senior Men’s High Jump at 1.75m.
Spencer Horwood places 12th in the Junior Men’s Shot Put Friday.
Emma Smith of North Lambton Secondary School in Forest set a new West Region record for the Girls 800m run Intellectually. Smith had a time of 3:11.53 shaving 17 seconds off the record set last year.
Juliet Osborne of Lambton-Kent Composite School placed 11th in the Novice Girls Triple Jump finishing at 9.84 m.
Brookelynn McKenzie of North Lambton Secondary School placed seventh in the Novice Girls’ Discus with a throw of 21.44m
Kole Chapman passes the baton to Damien Weston during the novice 4×100-metre race. The LCCVI boys relay team placed 15th.
