Plympton-Wyoming has honoured a hometown Paralympian.
Mayor Gary Atkinson formally recognized Paralympian Priscilla Gagne’s “remarkable career” at Wednesday’s council meeting.
Atkinson said by “switching from wrestling to judo in 2010, you sought more competitive opportunities, a decision that has led you to becoming a leading figure in your sport.
“Opportunities just don’t happen… you create them, and you did just that,” the mayor added.
“You have achieved many significant milestones, as well as recognition at all levels. But the success has not come easy.
“You have faced many challenges including broken bones and hip surgery. Through it all, you continue to be an inspiration to so many with your perseverance and your dedication.”
Atkinson added that the next generation of Paralympians “are watching and being inspired by you.”
