LCCVI faces Lambton-Kent in boys hockey final Monday

It’ll be Petrolia’s LCCVI and Dresden’s Lambton-Kent Composite for the LKSSAA boys’ A/A/A hockey title at Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre Monday.

The Lancers advanced with a 10-0 win over Wallaceburg Wednesday in one semi-final while the Lambton-Kent Composite beat North Lambton, 3-1 in the other semi-final Thursday in Dresden. Lambton Jr. Sting goaltender Kyler Van Esse was the winning goalie for LKCS.

The teams meet Monday at 1 pm at the Dresden arena. LCCVI is the three-time defending LKSSAA champion.

Classic cars on display in Alvinston

The Independent Well over 55 cars and antique tractors lined River Street in Alvinston on Sunday for the annual car show hosted by Brooke-Alvinston and the Alvinston Royal Canadian Legion branch. Despite the high temperatures, people stopped to look at some of the classics. The event is part of the community’s Canada Day celebrations.
