Lancers, led by Landon heading to OFSAA

LCCVI’s Darius Landon will swim for gold at OFSAA after winning three gold at the regional competition Friday.

Friday at the SWOSSA event in Windsor, Landon won the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 55.82, seven seconds faster than his nearest competitor.

He won the 50 meter Freestyle event with a time of 24.40 – two seconds faster than Brian Podar of Assumption College.

And Landon claimed the top spot in the 100 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 1:02.81, nine seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Hayden Young will join Landon at OFSAA after placing sixth in the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 32.06 – within the OFSAA qualifying time.

And Cash McKinnon will also be competing at the provincial event after meeting the qualifying times for both the 50 Meter and 100 Meter Freestyle events.

OFSAA will be held on March 4 and 5 in Scarborough at the Pan Am Sports Centre.

Other results

Yarko Zelenchuk, Ellis Wellington, Hayden Young and Hunter Kedwell placed fifth in the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay.

Young also placed fourth in the 100 Meter Breaststroke.

Hunter Kedwell placed 11th in the Boys Over 50 meter freestyle and 10th in the 100 meter freestyle

Madailyne Henderson placed eighth in the 100 Meter Individual Medley.

Henderson, Danielle McKay, Elizabeth Kuykendall and Marnie Sawyer placed fifth in the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay.

Leah Stephens, Jane VanDamme, Whitney Wilson and Henderson placed sixth in the 200 Meter Medley Relay

Danielle McKay, Sawyer, Henderson and Kuykendall placed fourth in the Girls 15 and Over 200 Meter Medley Relay.

Jane VanDamme placed 15th in the Girls U14 100 Meter Freestyle

Bredan Bullock placed tenth and Benjamin Leystra placed 13 in the U14 100 Meter Freestyle event.

Whitney Wilson placed fifth in the Girls 12-19 100 Meter Butterfly.

Leah Stephens placed sith in the Girls 13-19 200 Meter Freestyle.

Danielle McKay placed sixth in the Girls over 200 Meter Freestyle

Marnie Sawyer placed eighth in the Girls 50 Meter Freestyle event
