March 6, 2025
The Independent
Lambton Public Health officials have issued 440 suspension notices after students and their parents failed to update their immunization records.
Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act students must to be vaccinated against or obtain a valid exemption for the following diseases: Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Meningococcal disease, and Varicella.
Jan. 3, public health sent out 3,000 letters notifying families their records were out of date. Most updated their records but March 4, about 300 elementary students and 140 secondary school students were suspended.
Parents must either update their child’s record, provide an exemption or update the vaccinations.
