OPP warn of phony speed camera scam

Lambton OPP is warning people about a fraudulent text messages.
Police say they have had “ongoing reports” of texts claiming that your vehicle was “captured on a Service Ontario speed camera” and urging you to click a link to view or pay a fine.
Police say it is a scam and warn people not to click any links.
OPP say you will never receive a legitimate fine via text message. These messages, police say, are designed to trick you into providing personal or financial information.
If you receive one of these messages:
- • Do not click any links or respond
- • Delete the message immediately
- • Report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at: www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca
- • Let friends and family know, especially those who may be more vulnerable to online scams
