It’s only fitting that the first round Northern Premier Hockey League playoff series between the Alvinston
Killer Bees and Tilbury Bluebirds will start this Saturday, Valentine’s Day, at the Brooke Alvinston Inwood
Community Centre. The ‘Birds and the ‘Bees will drop the puck at 6:45.

Game two will be next Tuesday night (Feb. 17) in Tilbury at 7:30 p.m.

Alvinston won the South conference of the league’s Metropolitan Division while the Bluebirds finished in fourth place with a record of 9-11, but were 7-3 on home ice.

Games between the teams have been significant this season. The Birds beat the Bees, 5-3 in November handing Alvinston’s its first regular loss of the season after eight straight wins. And, the Bees clinched the division title with a victory over Tilbury earlier this month.

The Bluebirds roster includes ex-Mooretown Flags and Sarnia Legionnaire goalie Logan Phillips of Corunna.

The other divisional series between the Strathroy Jets and Stratford Irish begins at the Gemini Complex in Strathroy on Friday night at 7:30.

Game two is in Stratford on Saturday afternoon at 5:30.
