LCCVI’s Beaudoin wins SWOSSA wrestling crown

Mya Beaudoin is a SWOSSA wrestling champion.  The LCCVI grappler won the women’s 95-kilo category at the regional event at Riverside Secondary School in Windsor Thursday.

Several other Lancer wrestlers finished in the top four. They included Micah Kember, Alex Campbell, Kylee Somerville, Jesse Somerville, Abbi White, Kalyn Kwarciak-Bishop, Connor O’Brien and Amelia Limoges.

Meantime, six wrestlers from North Lambton also cracked the top four at SWOSSA. They are Bailey Dortmans, Daphne Farr, Eddie Moons, Alexia Cooper, Brody Bruce and Kaydence DeWilde.

Finishing in the top two of their weight classes, Beaudoin, Kember, Campbell, (Kylee) Somerville, Dortmans, Farr and Moons have all qualified for the provincial high school championship in Peterborough from March 2-5.

Wyoming’s Abby Phelan of St. Patrick’s also won her SWOSSA category and advances to OFSAA too.

In the team standings, LCCVI tied for third in the girls’ SWOSSA division with North Lambton placing fifth.  Overall, LCCVI and North Lambton placed sixth and seventh respectively.

Great Lakes won the overall championship. Northern was second.
