There will be a rematch in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming election.
Tim Wilkins has filed his papers to run for mayor.
Wilkins, who served four years as councillor, was one of three people who ran in 2022 to replace Lonny Napper, who retired.
Wilkins claimed 39 per cent of the vote that year. Gary Atkinson had 47 per cent of the vote and has served as mayor since then.
Atkinson filed for re-election May 7, a week after the nominations opened.
There has been little action other than the race in Plympton-Wyoming as summer returns.
In Brooke-Alvinston, there is one new candidate. Wayne Deans of Inwood, who served on council until 2022, is seeking a seat at the table again. He, Greg Hillyard and Craig Sanders are listed as councillor candidate. Jamie Armstrong, a councillor with Deans on the 2018 -2022 council, has filed to run for the mayor’s chair.
The only other change is in Sarnia, where City/County candidate Clara James has decided to run for a spot on city council instead.
Nominations for the Oct. 26 municipal election close Aug. 21.
