Lasalle, Petrolia Line work to wait until at least 2031

Brooke-Alvinston has endorsed a five-year capital plan, but three major road projects requested by residents and discussed by council won’t be addressed until at least 2031.

The report by Clerk-Administrator Janet Denkers and approved by council July 9, identifies the capital projects needed in the next five years.

Among the items expected are a new fire rescue truck in 2028 at a cost of $1.1 million and repaving the parking lot at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre at a cost of about $250,000.

But by far the most spending will be in the municipality’s road and sidewalk network.

The plan calls for about $4 million worth of road work on Churchill Line – a project underway with Warwick Township – and projects on Walnut, River, Morrell and Queen Streets in Alvinston and Inwood.

The plan places the repair of Petrolia Line from Nauvoo to Sexton, Rokeby Line from Ebenezer to Inwood Road and LaSalle Line from Nauvoo to Forest between 2031 and 2035.

Council has voiced concern about the condition of both Petrolia and Rokeby Line in the past.

Earlier this year, 23 home-owners wrote to council complaining of the dust after the municipality decided not to repave the road after reconstruction because it ran out of money.
