Enniskillen council to be acclaimed

August 21, 2026

The Independent

The entire Enniskillen council is expected to be acclaimed Monday. It will be the third term in a row without an election in the township.

Aug. 21 was the final day to submit nominations to run in the Oct. 26 municipal election.

The township, which has acclaimed its council in both the 2018 and 2022 election, seemed destined to avoid a vote again this time around. But Aug. 17, incumbent Chad Burke withdrew the nomination he submitted May 5. He has been dealing with health problems through this term of office.

That left incumbents Judy Krall and Tim Williams along with newcomer Jason Armstrong as the sole candidates for the four council positions.

Just two days before the nomination period closed, incumbent councillor Wally Van Dun signed his papers to serve for another four years.

Kevin Marriott was is also expected to be acclaimed Monday when the clerk makes the candidate list official.
