Flags honour Nisbet, secure first win in home opener

Casey Schouten scored four times, including a natural hat trick in the second period, to lead the Mooretown Flags to
a 6-1 win over Walpole Island in the PJHL opener at the Moore Sports Complex last Saturday night.
Jace Dupuis had a goal and three assists for the Flags while Wes Robertson had the other goal for Mooretown.
Schouten, from Corunna, is well on his way to perhaps a season-high in regular season goals after scoring 12 in each of the last two seasons.
Wallaceburg’s Cohen Veenstra scored for the Wild.
Brock Lane of Port Lambton was the winning goaltender with 23 saves as the Flags outshot the Wild, 48-24.
Mooretown continued its season in Essex Tuesday with the 73’s picking up a 3-0 win. Lane continued his strong start to the season by making 40 saves.
The Blenheim Blades visit the Flags on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. before the Flags travel to Amherstburg for a 4 p.m. contest against the Admirals on Sunday.
Blenheim’s roster includes blueliner Michael Mackellar of Alvinston.
