Rededicating Petrolia’s cenotaph

One hundred and four years after it was first dedicated, the Petrolia Legion marked some important changes at the Cenotaph.
Memorial stones to honour those who served in Afghanistan and in United Nation peacekeeping missions were officially dedicated, as well as the walkway leading up to the cenotaph in Victoria Park. It has been painted with the Legion’s maple leafs and inscribed with words of remembrance.
The cenotaph was officially unveiled on Sept. 24, 1922 at 2 pm. Thursday’s ceremony mirrored that and included a volley of gunfire to mark the occasion.

Sarnia Police Board seeks $3.5 million to repair station
