Princess St. construction on schedule
October 30, 2013
The reconstruction of Princess Street in Petrolia is on schedule.
That’s according to Joe Adams, director of operations for the town. The $1.3 million project began in September.
Construction workers have now installed the watermains and all services from Nelson Street through the intersection at Dufferin and Princess and are installing new catch basins and leads.
The second crew is beginning the working on the road portion on starting at Nelson and working north while the original crew continues working on underground services to Petrolia Line.
“We’re very close to schedule,” says Adams “and hopefully it stays that way.”
But he says it is a considerable amount of work considering the age of the area. “There is a lot of stuff in a small space so it (the work) is not something that flies down the street,” he says. “It’s coming along as well as can be expected.”
Adams hopes the initial layer of pavement can be laid in late November with the second layer and the finishing touches, such as re-sodding, completed in the spring.
