Getting out the cold hard facts of spring rains

Students Kerian Moorey and Owen Evoy of High Park Public School in Sarnia join St. Clair Region Conservation Authority Chair Steve Arnold and Union Gas representatives Chris Young and Dave Lamoureux in an experiment to see how cold the water in streams can be in the springtime.
Union Gas has given the conservation authority $5,000 to continue the in-class training which shows children how heavy clothing becomes when it is saturated with water and exactly how cold that water is.
Officials say 1,400 children received the training last year.
“You never know who may have been impacted and whose life may have been spared because of this class,” Arnold told officials from Union Gas. “If this can eliminate one of these little ones slipping into the water, it is so well worth it.”
