It will be a nerve-racking weekend for some would-be actors as Petrolia Community Theatre holds auditions for its April production

Auditions for Things my Mother Taught Me will be held Friday at 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2pm at the theatre’s rehearsal hall on Centre Street.

Theatre spokesperson Carol Graham says the comedy is written by Katherine DiSavino, the playwright responsible for Nana’s Naughty Knickers. “It’s a story of young couple moving in together for the first time into an apartment,” says Graham. “They have driven half way across the country to Chicago…Gabe has invited both of their parents to surprise them with a visit. He’s planning on proposing, he wants it to be a big surprise, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.”

Director Danna Andrade is casting for seven roles. Graham adds the two young people will be involved in a kissing scene; “Sometimes people are a little nervous about it.”

Graham says actors do not have to prepare anything for the audition and will be reading from the script. If you have any questions you can call Andrade at 466-7276 or come to the audition early to go over the script before hand.
