Rob Hinde always goes above and beyond at the Greenwood Recreation Centre, says Petrolia CAO Manny Baron.

He works hard each day, cheers on the teams and encourages the players; he even wears a Santa suit while riding the zamboni during the Christmas season.

But Baron and officials from Petrolia Minor Hockey say Hinde recently went above and beyond when referee Mark Colbran hit the boards during playoff hockey and was unconscious on the ice, Hinde worked quickly behind the scenes.

“I was thinking ‘what do we do’” says Baron who was at the game “and he had everything done already.”

Petrolia Minor Hockey President Nick Salaris sent a letter to Petrolia the next day; “We want to commend and thank Rob Hinde for being more than just an employee but a fan. He’s often found cheering and supporting our teams. He’s a great example of P-town pride.”

Salaris went on to say “arena staff always go the extra mile but in this instance, he went above and beyond.”

Hinde was officially recognized at Monday’s town council meeting.
